We'd like to invite all of you to come and enjoy the view. It is GREEN
and looking good. The resident geese are really liking the weather and the babies are
growing up with the signs of flight coming soon. They are in charge of Jawbone Lake and seem to
think that the #6 Fairway is their personal sunning area.
June has been a busy month with 3 tournaments completed and we are gearing
up for July. The Wheatland County Stockgrowers kicked off the tournament season with
their 2nd annual tourney on June 5th. Nice weather and some great teams hit the course for
the day. The proceeds from their tourney goes toward their youth projects. The
Black vs. Red theme ended up in a draw, with a bottle of wine going to each team. A couple of
special features to this tourney had people trying to pitch the golf ball in a Loomix tub, no
winners, but some interesting shots. The next was the Stockgrowers Trifecta, you pick the
teams in the correct order of finish for the 2nd nine. There is always that Dark Horse that charges
from behind and this was no different, as the dark horse knocked the top dogs out of the winnings.
Winners of this tourney were: Loren Haar, Dane Elwood, Robb Barnhart, and Rich Egebakken.
June 12th kicked off the Wind Festival with Invenergy acting as the host.
A small turn-out, but great enthusiasm saw this great group golfing in the wind. The entire week has been wind
and rain, but it's Montana and give us 5 minutes and we'll change the weather for you. A super unique 1st place
trophy, a wind tower powered by solar energy and the lucky winners were: Gordon Nash, Harold Bornong, Shawn Schuchard and
Rich Egebakken.
The 20th Annual Bud Lite Tournament was held on June 19, with 16 teams and
a picture perfect golf day, No "W" and some sun. The course was truly enjoyed by all the participants. Roxanne Berg and Mike
Otten were the winners of the long drive and received golf bags. The 1st place team was the Carl Sommers team from Three Forks,
MT, 2nd was Otten/McKeever team and 3rd place was the Dobeck Performance team from Bozeman, MT.
Father's Day was busy with a group from Billings treking up to our city.
The 3 boys hadn't been together for some time, but they always try and
take their Dad to a new course to golf on Father's Day. This year they
found JCCC and thoroughly enjoyed the course and promised to be back
again. They were impressed with its terrain and uniqueness.
We have Keithon Walter, golf pro, from Pine Meadows Golf Course coming in
on Tuesdays for a month to give lessons. If you'd like
to sign up and learn how to golf or maybe you have a trouble spot that
could use a coach, please call the JCCC to sign up or get more
information.
Men's and Women's Leagues are having a tough time with the weather, it has
been the BIG "W" blowing or rain. Men's League has 9 teams with 4 people
each competing this year. The Ladies of the Evening have 12-2person
teams and our "Spring Chicks" have been enjoying the mornings with about 6
ladies. Our Bridge gals are back and are enjoying the Clubhouse and its
view. Monday morning the Sr. men have been getting together for a round
of golf, come on up and join them. Monday night "Fun Night" is in full
swing and they have been enjoying golf and their potluck dinner. Tuesday
night will be "Couples" night for the rest of the season. This is a
really unique night and "real" golf is prohibited, you'll have to come up
to see what kind of format is planned.
The JCCC Clubhouse is enjoying a new facelift, with new paint and 3 new
windows. The course has an addition of steps to the #2 tee box and
hopefully we can get #7 done also. New ball washers and special rock
yardage markers have been added to the course and to top it all off, we
have some additional new trees planted along some of the fairways. A golf
course is always a work in progress and best of all the "watering" is
really paying off!
The door is always open for golfers and visitors alike, come check us OUT!!
