A super weekend for the JCCC Membership Golf Tournament, with perfect
weather and some great scores.
Saturday kicked off this annual event with golf at your own pace.
Some paces were a little faster than others, but everyone completed 18 holes
of golf. Robert Guesanburu inaugurated his new grill by roasting a hog for
our annual dinner meeting. Yum, yum GOOD! If you went away hungry, it was
your own fault.
A chipping contest was held at 5PM with 3 people actually putting a
golf ball into a tub. Karen Bornong, Dallas Fischer and Gordon Nash faced
off to see who would take home the Makita Palm Sander, donated by Remedies.
Gordon put the ball in one more time to take it home. On the putting green,
Virginia Olson and Rosemarie Steele faced off in a tie, with Rose taking home
the steak package donated by Fischer Red Angus. It was a fun night!!!
New officers were elected for the following year and a course update was
given by outgoing President Robb Barnhart. The big project of the year is
the complete retrofitting of the wiring. We now have state of the art control
boxes and new wiring for the sprinkler system.
New officers for the ensuing year are:
President - Dean Thompson
Vice President - Jay Ward
Secretary - Ron Fischer
Treasurer - Esther Fischer
Directors - Patty Langston, Jeff Sell, Travis Hiner, Loren Haarr
Newly elected direectors for 3 year terms are Rosemarie Steele and Sandy Woldstad.
Sunday the golfers were up and ready to go and by the end of the day
we would have new club champions. Tony Orr posted another sizzling score and is now the new Men's Champion.
Roxanne Berg held off a challenge by Marlene Sorensen to retain her Ladies
Champion title. Virginia Olson posted two great scores to become the new Senior Women's
Champ. Dennis Sacry retained his title as the Senior Men's Champion. The Jr Division is in
good hands with some excellent young men posting some great scores. Garret Woldstad
is the new Junior Champion.
The Wheatland County Stockgrowers will be hosting a 4 person scramble
at the course this Saturday, Sept. 15th. Contact Ron Fischer or the Clubhouse for more
info or to register your team. All the proceeds from this will go toward promoting
Youth in Agriculture. Wheatland Co. Stockgrowers are the proud sponsors of an HHS scholarship
and also help with Wheatland Co. Youth Fair awards.
There is a new guy on the golf course who has taken up residency
close to the number 1 tee box. A bronze/resin statue of a young golfer hurrying to get his game
of golf in before it gets dark has been placed in honor of the Callant Foundation. Dutch
was a long time supporter of the course and his children, Larry & Mary, continue supporting the
Jawbone through their generous donations.
Come up and enjoy the game or maybe just the view as the season winds down!!!
